Kris J. Snyder, IMFT, MBA, CCATP
Kris is an Independently Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (IMFT) and Sports Psychotherapist with over 30+ years of dedicated service as a catalyst for transformation in the mental health of individuals, their families’ relationships, communities, and sports arena. After completing an internship as a probation officer, his journey in the helping field began with a profound commitment to family and community wellness. From guiding parents in creating nurturing homes and safeguarding the emotional well-being of children, he honed his expertise in preventing parents from losing their children to the custody of the state. This experience laid the groundwork for his approach to therapy; understanding family systems and the root of many individual struggles lies within family cycles and early familial relationships. Specializing in marriage and couples therapy, he has a passion for forging secure emotional connections and addressing mental health challenges. Whether navigating the complexities of marital dynamics or supporting an individual through personal growth, his goal is to illuminate the path to improved mental health through the power of education that leads to understanding and developing secure bonds with others.
Kris is an integrative therapist who believes in the power of innovative methods like Brainspotting. This psychotherapeutic tool has revolutionized his sessions, enabling clients to identify, process, and move beyond trauma that has kept them emotionally stuck. By harnessing the visual field, we tap into the brain’s innate ability to heal, addressing issues such as debris of trauma such as anxiety, anger, and depression. His approach is both research-based and integrative, drawing from the pioneering work of John Gottman, Sue Johnson’s Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) and Terrence Real’s Real Life Therapy (RLT). Kris also holds a Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from Ohio Dominican, and a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from West Liberty State College. He has served as a co-facilitator with several brainspotting trainings and is a designated co-facilitator in training. He completed Brainspotting Phase(s) 1, 2,3, and 4, Brainspotting with Children and Adolescents, Group Brainspotting, and Brainspotting Expansion/reaching the highest protentional. Kris also completed Level 1 under the Gottman curriculum, Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), Externship and Core Skills 1, Co-facilitated several Hold Me Tight Couple workshops, and Yoga 200 HR YTT Blue Spot Yoga, Bexley, OH. At the core of his practice is the transformative power of understanding brain science, which empowers couples to break cycles of disconnection and build lasting, secure bonds.
